LUIGI
The news of Luigi Pintor's death reached us just as this edition was about to go to print. We would have wished to delay the edition and dedicate it exclusively to Luigi. This was discussed but we decided to go ahead with this edition as planned and to dedicate time and thought to talk and write about him in our July edition and in the following months.

THE WAR GOES ON A SUMMING UP OF THE FIRST ACT
The war in Iraq has been proclaimed a phase in a lasting conflict. Everything confirms this. But what more has been revealed about the reasons that promote it and the subsequent dynamics? What confrontation of forces did the war measure and what are the results? And vice versa, what remains of the great mobilisation which opposed it in its various aspects? We can attempt a first summing up of the outcome.

THE REFERENDUM OF JUNE 15th THE VOTE IS POLITICAL
The referendum of June 15th has a much greater value than its specific and important contents. Its outcome could slow down the general attack against the worker’s rights or encourage it. It could assure a political success or a knock back for Berlusconi. Notwithstanding significant desertions, there are more adherents. It isn’t a battle of testimonials; we can and we must try to win.
