PALESTINE. THE FINAL SOLUTION?
Instead of standing up to terrorism and using politics to get it at its roots, the United States and Israel have been accentuating unilateralism and using increasing violence. Such an attitude is illustrated in the developments regarding Palestine, where Arafat now ranks alongside Bin Laden and brutal repression takes the place of negotiation and peace. Up until now, Europe has mutely stood on the sidelines, and even the Left has not given the issue the priority status it deserves.

BEHIND THE ATTACK ON THE MAGISTRACY
By attacking the magistracy, Berlusconi's main aim is to bring potentially damaging trials regarding himself to a halt. However, his intentions are much deeper and more far-reaching than initial appearances, with the abolition of the division of power being his ultimate objective. With this, an ancient absolutism would be restored in the face of which the power of the judiciary and Parliament would no longer count. Adieu, Montesquieu.

REFLECTIONS ON THE WAR
More space is given over to thoughts and reflections about the war. Tortorella sheds light on the bond with ancient eurocentrism which has not been erased by working class internationalism. Ferrara analyses the side-effects which include a return of an anti-democractic version of State which is more or less authoritarian. Meanwhile, Anderson offers anlysis and forecasts which differ from our own but neverthless require attention and consideration.

THE 11th CONGRESS OF THE ITALIAN COMMUNIST PARTY
By 1966, three diverging lines had emerged in the Italian Communist Party which formed the basis for debate and later led to clashes regarding reform within the party. It was a battle that saw a serious defeat for Ingrao's Left. We will try to reconstruct the clash so as to take stock of its values and limitations and maybe learn a few lessons from it.
