POST-ELECTION SCENARIO
A few new reasons regarding if and how to vote are offered by the elections. The true nature and intentions of the Right have emerged more clearly and preventing them from winning - or winning hands down, is a duty. Nor must it be forgotten that the 'liste civetta' fraud constitutes a motive for, at least in the proportional seats, lending a helping hand to those swindled instead of the swindlers.

The Left and the Vote
More on how the Left must face the general election in order to not come out of it with broken bones. Salvi and Greco insist on a convergence on the Left but would want to link it to some important policies. Realacci and Boccia point out that the election is not everything, nevertheless they add that it is necessary for stopping a dangerous and imminent arrival of the Right.

THE EURO AND THE DOLLAR, SIGNS OF CONFLICT
The construction of Europe has reached a critical point: the Euro has gone down 30%; a mass break-away from the integration process has been taking place since the Danish referendum; and institutional reform hit a stumbling block at Nice. Graziani and Mortellaro analyse this deadlock on different levels and both arrive at the same conclusion: Europe will either assert its independence from the US or it will not come into being.

CHINA, WEITHING UP THE BIG REFORM/1
The Egyptian economist analyses the successes and crisis of the Maoist experience, its intentions, its mechanisms and the transformation of the Deng reform for which the end point is not defined at the beginning. But it seems to be clear that this is something different from the capitalism of the "Asian tigers" and what is more, different from the feverish and dramatic events of Russian post-Communism.

'L'Unità' DOSSIER. SHORT DIALOGUE ON 1956
In an unusual but effective form of dialogue, a protagonist relives and assesses the facts, general feelings and the choices of the Italian Communist Party brought about by the 20th Soviet Communist Party congress and the Hungarian crisis. A period in which a lot depended on the events that followed regarding that party and that country. It was at that point that a process of autonomy began in the USSR, a process that neverthless evolved slowly and tentatively.
